Jennifer Coplan is Partner and co-head of the Technology Transactions practice. She brings over 30 years of experience in technology law, including previously serving as the global co-leader of Sidley's Technology and IP Transactions practice.
A software engineer before attending Yale Law School, Jennifer advises clients on a broad range of technology transactions and matters, including technology development and licensing, software and tech services, intellectual property acquisitions, IP-driven joint ventures and strategic alliances, and product counseling.She also regularly advises clients on the intellectual property aspects of private equity, M&A and other corporate and commercial transactions. Jennifer works with clients across a wide range of industries, including software, cloud services, artificial intelligence, data analytics, financial services, healthcare, consumer electronics, and digital media.She has also played a leading role in several standards organizations and consortia involving digital rights management and content protection technologies.
Jennifer has been ranked by Chambers USA for Technology and Outsourcing (New York) and recognized by various other industry publications and directories, including The Best Lawyers in America, Legal 500, Managing IP and IAM Patent 1000. In 2021, The Best Lawyers in America awarded Jennifer the "Lawyer of the Year" distinction for Technology Law and she was named a NorthEast Trailblazer by American Lawyer, a recognition of individuals who have “moved the needle in the legal industry.”
