Dominique "Monique" Gallego is a tax partner with more than 20 years of experience advising leading asset managers, including private equity sponsors, and global investors on complex U.S. and international tax matters.
Monique's practice focuses on investment fund structuring, cross-border transactions, and enterprise tax risk management. She has advised on the formation and operation of multi-billion-dollar investment funds/platforms and regularly counsels sponsors and investors on fund formation, sponsor-level planning, treaty issues, investment level planning and general inbound and outbound U.S. tax matters.
Clients turn to Monique for commercially grounded advice on strategic matters, including sensitive IRS audits, digital asset taxation, complex financial products, and cross-border investment structures. Her practice spans the full lifecycle of investment — from formation of investment entities, deployment of capital, through exit transactions — and is informed by both technical depth and practical business judgment.
Monique was formerly a partner at Sidley Austin LLP and Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP and formerly a principal in the Asset Management practice at EY.
Monique received her LL.M. in International Taxation from New York University School of Law, her J.D., valedictorian and cum laude, from Ateneo de Manila University, and her B.S. in Applied Economics, summa cum laude, from De La Salle University. She is admitted in New York and has been recognized in Best Lawyers in America for Tax law and The Legal 500 U.S.
