Biography

Mike Rupe is a Partner, Head of Private Credit, and Head of Business Development at Norm Law and brings 25 years of experience representing financial institutions, private credit funds, and alternative capital providers in transactions.

Mike began his legal career at Katten Muchin Rosenman’s Chicago office. From 2002 to 2006, he was a Partner at Jenner & Block working on significant restructuring and distressed transactions. He returned to Katten in 2006 as a Partner in the Bankruptcy, Reorganization & Creditor’s Right Practice.

In 2009, he moved to King & Spalding where he became the Head of Financial Restructuring, leading that practice group and advising major creditor groups in high-profile in-court and out-of-court restructurings and liability management transactions. During his time there, he built a team of 50+ cross-disciplinary professionals, and helped expand the firm’s footprint from 11 to 23 offices in addition to bringing on 100+ new customers. He joined Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft in 2022 to lead and grow their Special Situations and Reorganizations Practice in New York before joining Norm Law.
